ત્રિગુણ પ્રકૃતિ માં રહીને કરેલા સઘળા કર્મો ત્રુટિપૂર્ણ હોય છે માનવના સર્વે કર્મો ખામીવાળા, ભૂલ ભરેલા કે મર્યાદા વાળા હોય છે. પણ તેથી આપણા પોતાના ધર્મનો – સ્વધર્મ નો – આપણે ત્યાગ ન કરવો જોઈએ. આપણું કર્મ નિયત કર્મ -नियतं कर्म (18.9) – એટલે સાચી રીતે ‘નિયત થયેલું કર્મ’ – હોવું જોઈએ,

कार्यम् इति एव यत् कर्म नियतम् क्रियते अर्जुन ।
सङ्गम् त्यक्त्वा फलम् च एव सः त्यागः सात्त्विकः मतः ॥ 18.09

Sri Aurobindo’s Interpretation
He who performs a rightly regulated action, because it has to be done, without any attachment either to the action or to the fruit of the action, that renunciation is regarded as sattwic.

सहजम् कर्म कौन्तेय सदोषम् अपि न त्यजेत् ।
सर्वारम्भाः हि दोषेण धूमेन अग्निः इव आवृताः॥18.48

Sri Aurobindo’s Interpretation
The inborn work, O son of Kunti, though defective, ought not to be abandoned. All actions (in the three Gunas) indeed are clouded by defects as fire by smoke.

પરંતુ એ પોતાના અંતરમાંથી પ્રગટેલું, પોતાના જીવનના સત્ય સાથે સંવાદી અને સ્વભાવ નિયત કર્મ -स्वभाव नियतं कर्म (18.47) – સ્વભાવમાંથી નિર્માણ થયેલું કર્મ હોવું જોઈએ.
